The day actually started at Eli's preschool. We attended a Dr. Seuss story time (at which I forgot to take photos). We read Green Eggs and Ham, and of course, ate green eggs and ham (which were disgusting by the way, Eck!). It really was a great time. Miss Myra reads the best! She does all the voices and the kids just love her! I even found myself lost in the story for a moment. :) After story time it was off to the Edible Earth Fest in Missouri City, TX at Oyster Creek Trail System.
The Edible Earth Fest was AMAZING! It was small but the people out there sharing information were so enthusiastic about their causes that it made the event. And the activities for the kids were beyond. Not only did we learn about apples with a little Apple Bowling, Eli got to make his own cinnamon sugar apple slices!
We learned the average apple has 10 seeds.
We went on to learn about lemons, make a lemon hand scrub then we moved on to composting and conserving our water! We even got a small container of lady bugs to take home! I had so much fun hanging outside and Eli and getting to know people in our new community. We ended the fest with a walk down the Edible Trail where we found pecan trees, lemon trees and even olive trees! I COULD HAVE AN OLIVE TREE! (mind blown) It was an excellent event and I can't wait for the rest of Spring and Summer to discover more about our new home!
